Today since I had to go and mow both of my grandparents lawn, I figured I could run a little at each of my grandparents houses. So I started at my house, ran a out a half mile and back. Then I went to the non married grandma and ran 2 miles at her house around her block. Her block is exactly a half mile around but the hill  on it is as big as footlocker. Then I went to the married grandma and ran out a mile and back. It is exactly a mile to Cottonwood Complex from her house so I did that. Then when I got home I ran out a half mile and back. Towards the end my legs were feeling like lead probably because of the constant stop and restart. I did stretch whenever I was done to try to stop from being sore but it didn't work towards the end. On each I was really really pushing to get some speed into these little runs.

Today for cross country practice we met at sugarhouse park. We started the workout with a warm up of running the state course. Since today was boot camp I was expecting a really hard workout. But in the end it wasn't that bad. So after the warm up we jogged over to the hill and we ran some hill loop that was just under .20 or something of a mile. Then Varsity did 10 hills and JV did 8. I did the 10 loops. I started out slow but then on each I increased my time at least by 10 seconds and my goal was to pass one person per loop. I did so. By about the 7th one I was totally sprinting on the downhills and on the uphills I was going way faster than the first one. Then we went over to the soccer field and did 2 sets of circuits. After those it was almost time for me to go because I had an appointment at 10 so I had to leave at 9:30. For my cool down I did a mile. Then I came home and did my hamstring weights and holding my knee up for a minute thingy. Then after school registration I am going to do my core and go for another 3.5 miles.

Tonight I went for a little run on my own. I tried to push the pace because I wanted to be done. I started out running down to sugarhouse park, do a lap on the inside of the park. Run back up to my house then finish out whatever I had to do after. When I had finished my lap in the park, almost every muscle was sore so I stopped and stretched for a little bit then ran back up. Stopped at my house and went to the bathroom then finished out the last half mile.

Today for cross country we met at Liberty Park for the dutch oven breakfast. Since my grandma is going into surgery today, my mom had to pick her up and take her so I was dropped off at Liberty early. So since I was there at 7 in the morning I decided to do a lap around the park. When I was done with that lap some people from the team was there. Then we started the workout. We did a lap warm up then stretched. Jogged over to the starting line and did I think it was 6 strides. Then went over to the starting line. Our speed workout was timed 800, 800 recovery, timed mile then 800 recovery then timed 800 then cool down. My times were 3:11, 6:56, 3:11. My times were way slow, I don't know why but I am slowing way down. In the other race I ran my first mile was a 6:23 and that was only like two weeks ago. For the cooldown I only did .75 of a mile from the drinking fountain, not including jogging to the drinking fountain because I just decided to stop at 8 miles for today. I need to go for another run later tonight.

Today for cross country practice we met at the park n ride to go up millcreek canyon to the pipeline trail. I started out way slow with Natalie then we passed some people to catch up to Bill and Abigail. Once we caught back up to them we really picked up the pace. My goal today was to go faster today on this trail than I have ever. Which I did by like 3 minutes or something. But going there I did really good until I twisted my ankle on some rock and I really had to slow the pace down, thats when I lost Bill. From that point on the run was really painful to the finish. When I got to the turnaround point I waited for 3 minutes then some people came and ran by that I knew so I waited for them then we all as a group went back. But their pace was to slow for me today so I passed them and went by. Abigail and Amanda went back before me and were about a fourth of a mile ahead of me. My goal was to catch up to them. When we finally got to the street I was about 12 feet away from Abigail but then when we were going up the huge hill to get the extra that we needed she totally sprinted it I didn't try to match that. Gavin finished the last bit with me to keep me going at a good pace so I didn't slow down too much going up the hill. Then I went to my grandmas and did some of my core, then came home and finished out my core and did my hamstring machine thing and my holding my knee up for a minute thingy. Overall good run that I am glad that I pushed.

After doing my core and my leg weights, I went for a cooldown 2 miles so I was not sore for tomorrows race.

Today since Dakota told me that practice started at 9:30 instead of 7:30, I got to sleep in. When in fact workout actually started at 7:30 so I arrived at Sunnyside park when everyone was leaving. When I got home I went for my own run, a short run at that because tonight is the Alumni run deciding who is going to be on Varsity for Saturdays race. So I started at my house, ran down to Sugarhouse Park. Went out one mile and stopped at the mile mark and did 10 strides that were like .08 of a mile. Sometimes more sometimes less. For my recovery for those, I walked around the tree two times. Then I ran home and when I got home I decided to add .25 of a mile to make it an even 3 miles. Alumni run here I come!

PM: Today was the alumni run and the time trial to determine our first Varsity Team to show east for the first race on Saturday. So Annie and I went out for a mile and a half warm up, then we all as a sort of team did a stretching circle. Then we went down and jogged to the starting line. Since there was some rugby games going on we had to change the course a bit, change the starting line. So we all lined up and we started. I started out fast because I knew if I wanted to make Varsity I would need to get a good position from the beginning. So I was in a group with Dakota, Dylan, Me, Natalie, Voung, and Gio. I knew from then that I was in the top seven because Scott and Tomy were the only ones ahead of us. So I got ahead of the group but Dakota started to pull away and Natalie went with him. So Gio and Voung and I started to pick up the pace. Our first mile was 6:35. That was near my goal pace of 6:30 so I was proud of that. Then Voung started to pick up the pace with Dylan. Gio started to fall behind so I picked up the pace because I knew he could out kick me. So we were going around the pond and I counted my position and I was in fifth. So we go up the hill and Scott passes me. Bringing me to sixth place. Dylan at this point was about 10 feet away from me and didn't get any farther ahead than that the rest of the race. When we got to the top of the final hill I just kicked it in, with everything that I had left and I made Varsity!!!!!! I got sixth!! My overall time was a 17:36. Then I did a way short cooldown because I was feeling way sick, I did about a mile after the announcements.

Today was our first cross country meet of the season and I ran varsity. I went up to the race determined not to be last and not to get nervous. So when I get there I put my shoes on and go over to Bills car and he gives me my varsity shorts that I have been waiting for, for like a year now. So I go and change into those and go on a one mile shake out run with Sarah. We go up the course a half mile then stop and cheer for the JV boys as they pass by. We go back down to the start of the race and put our racing shoes on, get water, take a potty break, and go cheer again as the JV girls pass. By this time it was only 9 in the morning so I had another hour to till I raced. Kevin, Scott and I go on a mile warm up and meet the rest of the Varsity Boys at the starting line. We do like 4 strides then line up. The gun goes off and no longer than 50 meters into the race Dylan falls hard and brings like three kids down with him but they don't restart the race because the officials didn't see it. I see if he is OK and we continue racing, at this time we have a horrible position. Dylan and I sprint a bit to catch up to the group again and we did. When I get to about the half mile up the canyon I start gagging like I am going to puke so I slowed down the pace a tiny bit and waited for it to go away, when it did I sped up the pace again. When we got to the mile mark or the turn around to the trail thingy my watch said 7:28 and that is 2 minutes faster than last year and the entire first like mile and a quarter is all uphill because the course goes first mile or so is uphill then last 2 is downhill. So when I get to the downhill I was still like second to last place and I wanted to be way farther up than that so I really try to pick up the pace. The boys in front of me were like 100 or 150 meters ahead of my so the odds were against me if I was going to catch up to them. So I picked up the pace and did catch one of them eventually but he stayed right behind me until the flat part where he could pass me which he did. Then some other kid I caught up to and did catch up to him. The kid who I passed but then repassed me I caught back up to in the last 5 meters of the race. As soon as I passed the finish line I felt like I was going to puke so I made it to the stream and I bent over gagging all over the place and coughing like no other but I didn't puke! Yay... I think what happened is I am not used to running in the heat so when I did it absolutely killed me because Varsity was running in the brutal heat with about half of it not shaded. When I felt better I cheered on the girls Varsity and ran a mile cooldown. Then went to peer court and straight to bed!!! Here is my Garmin Connect:
